Sandra Mcgavic Bellamy

March 1, 1943 - August 7, 2024

Sandra McGavic Bellamy, was born March 1, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri, the eldest child of the late Mabel Stevenson McGavic and Robert McGavic. She spent her early life in Leawood, Kansas and attended Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri and Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing, where she met and married her husband of 59 years, Thomas LeRoy Bellamy. Three children were born of that marriage, Robert William Bellamy (deceased), Kathryne Kristine Bellamy Brown (Mike) of Waynesboro and Thomas Lee Bellamy (Vicki) of Staunton. Her grandchildren include Andrew Thomas Bellamy, Paige Louise Bellamy, Evan Henry Bellamy, and Amber Bai Brown. Sandy is also survived by a brother, Steven McGavic of Chesterfield, MO; a sister, Sally M. Dennis of Overland Park, KS; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Sandra was employed by the Waynesboro Public Library, Hemingway Transport and Virginia Metalcrafters before retirement. She was a past matron of Waynesboro Eastern Star Chapter 105, an elder and deacon in the Presbyterian church and was active in the choir as well as mission work such as the Meals on Wheels program and Disciples Kitchen.

During her life she enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, and traveling. Following cremation, a Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at Second Presbyterian Church at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 16, 2024. Interment will be private.
