Samuel Lawrence Atkins

MIDDLEBROOK – Baby Samuel Atkins departed for Heaven from his mother’s womb on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.

His loving parents are Carter Lee Atkins and Ann Margarett (McDermott) Atkins. Samuel is also survived by maternal grandmother Gemma McDermott; paternal grandparents Boogie and Beth Atkins; maternal great-grandfather Ricardo Arriesgado; paternal great-grandparents Terry and Laurie Hebb, and Monte and Donna Atkins; aunts and uncles Rebecca and Jamie Spinner, Thomas and Kaitlyn McDermott, Zachary Kelly, Lake Atkins, and Gracie Atkins; and cousin Dakota McDermott.

Samuel was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Thomas Lawrence McDermott, from whom Samuel gets his name; and his maternal great-grandmothers, Esther McDermott and Lelita Arriesgado.

Funeral services for Sam will be held on Monday, August 4. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:45 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Harrisonburg, officiated by Father Matthew Kelly. At 2 p.m., a graveside service will be held in Oak Lawn Memory Gardens, Staunton, with a service provided by Pastor Stacey Burkholder & closing remarks & prayers by Father Matthew Kelly. The family will host a gathering of close friends and family in their home following thegraveside service.
