Ruthie Alma (Fitzgerald) Dedrick

July 15, 1938 - November 30, 2023

Ruthie Alma (Fitzgerald) Dedrick, 85, wife of Freddie Harold Dedrick, of Stuarts Draft, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Augusta Health in Fishersville. 
Mrs. Dedrick was born in White Rock, Virginia on July 15, 1938, a daughter of the late Ottis Owen Fitzgerald and Eula Beatrice (Coffey) Fitzgerald. 
Ruthie was a 1955 graduate of Wilson Memorial High School, a member of Mountain Top Christian Church, and retired as a bookkeeper from Dedrick Construction and Excavating. She enjoyed canning, cooking, making sweet tea, and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dedrick was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Lee Fitzgerald; four sisters, Madeline Rhodes, Florine Painter, Edith Stinnett, and Dottie Brown; and a nephew, Roger “Buck” Fitzgerald, Jr.
Surviving, in addition to her husband of sixty-five years, are two daughters, Donna D. Yeago and her husband, John and Pamela K. Varney and her husband, Keith both of Stuarts Draft; a sister, Libby Dameron of Crimora; six grandchildren, Jacob (Jesica), Marcus (Marybeth), Taylor (Emily) and Adriana Yeago, Daniel Holloway (Amber), and LeAnna Varney; nine great-grandchildren, Oaklyn, Jaxton, Sawyer, Olivia, Kinsley, Silas, Tye, Addison and Jackson; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Bonnie Bush, Randall and Linda Timm, and Webb and Nancy Shaffer.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at their residence (41 Shirley Lane, Stuarts Draft, Virginia).
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Mountain Top Christian Church in Tyro, Virginia by Pastor Doug Henderson.
Burial will follow in White Rock Cemetery in Montebello, Virginia.
Active pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jacob Yeago, Marcus Yeago, Taylor Yeago, Daniel Holloway, Jeremy Dyer and Jackson Bowman.
Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters, Adriana Yeago and LeAnna Varney; her nieces, LaVonne McCrary, Barbara Rusmisel, Linda Henderson, Sherry Dameron, Carolyn Snell, Debbie Hevener, Nicole Holloway, Denise Wilcher, Angela Snell, Tasha Bryant, Sue Orsak, and Dana Krassoi; and a very special great-niece, Trish Henderson.

The family would like to express a sincere “Thank You” to Hospice of the Shenandoah and the Skilled Care Unit at Augusta Health for the care and compassion shown to Mrs. Dedrick.
