Ruth (Craig) Mitchell

Ruth Lovinia Mitchell, 97, of Grottoes, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024. She was born on August 29, 1927, in Mount Crawford, to the late Admiral Dewey and Cora Lee (Smallwood) Craig. She was united in marriage to James Alfred Mitchell, who preceded her in death on January 1, 2006.

Ruth had worked as a dedicated inspector in the manufacturing industry at American Safety Razor. She enjoyed spending time with her family and attended Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren.

Ruth is survived by her children, Skip Irvine and Sandra Stephens. She leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry on her legacy of strength and love.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Rodger Irvine; daughter, Judy Mays and husband George; son-in-law, Billy Stephens; first husband, Oliver Irvine, Sr.

The family will receive friends, 2PM -4PM on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Grottoes. A memorial service will be held at 2PM, Monday, December 16, 2024 at Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Grottoes. Burial will be private.
