Ruby Simmons Propst

Ruby Simmons Propst, 97, of Smith Creek, Franklin, West Virginia, passed away Monday, November 27, 2023 at Pendleton Manor in Franklin.

She was born at home on December 5, 1925 and was the daughter of the late Albert Simmons and Levie Lambert Simmons.

Mrs. Propst graduated from Franklin High School in 1944 and was a member of the Smith Creek Church of the Brethren.  She had worked at Troy Laundry in Harrisonburg, Virginia, and was a housekeeper for Mrs. Beulah Sites and family in Franklin.  She then left to care for her mother and father.  She loved gardening, canning, cooking, and designing and decorating jugs and crocks.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira "Bub" Propst on March 14, 2022.  Three sisters, Norma Warner, Erma Waggy and Reba Wiseman, and one brother, Guy Simmons, also predeceased her.  She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She leaves behind several nieces and nephews to cherish her memory.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin, where a funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday in the funeral home chapel.

Interment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin.
