Rowena Wells

Rowena Elizabeth Wells, 80, of Afton, answered the call of our Heavenly Father on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at Augusta Nursing and Rehab in Fishersville. She was born in Charlottesville on August 11, 1944, a daughter of the late Eugene and Christine (Awkard) Wells.

Rowena was a faithful member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church of Waynesboro, which she attended for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Anthony Wells and her great granddaughter, Elizabeth Renee.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, Arthur Wells and wife, Linda of Afton; sisters, Christine Wells of Massachusetts and Lola Ann Hawkins of Chesapeake; granddaughter, Melissa Williams and husband, Jesse; great grandchildren: Cassandra Reade, Brittni Blair, Maricela Ortiz, and Clarissa Dennis; grand-pup, Roxy; 10 great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2pm on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home in Fishersville with Pastor Rudy Brooks officiating. A repast will follow at Union Baptist Church in Afton.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
