Ronald "Ron" Wilson Bishop
Ronald Wilson “Ron” Bishop, 86, husband of Emily (Lipford) Bishop, of Verona, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at the Shenandoah Hospice House in Fishersville.
Mr. Bishop was born in Staunton, Virginia on March 1, 1939, a son of the late Robert L. Bishop and Edith (Wilson) Bishop.
Ron was a veteran of the United States National Guard and retired from DuPont after 44 years as a plant scheduler. He was a dedicated member of Memorial Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School, was a member of the Rebekah Class, and served as a deacon and trustee. Mr. Bishop was a member of the Augusta County Planning Commission and enjoyed collecting model trains.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Bishop was preceded in death by his first wife of forty-four years, Gwendolyn Mozelle (Black) Bishop; his brother, Gary Irving Bishop; a sister-in-law, Adeline Ryan and her husband, James; his father-in-law, Harvey T. Black; and his mother-in-law, Evelyn (Keister) Black.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of twenty-one years, is a son, Jason C. Bishop and his wife, Luisa of Fishersville; his two daughters, Allison Bellamy of Stuarts Draft and Tamara Nicely of Richmond; two step-sons, Scott Davies and his wife, Mary Kate of Pine, CO and Kevin Davies and his wife, Allison of Honolulu, HI; a step-daughter, Michelle Leonard and her husband, Bobby of Pickens, SC; sister-in-law, Monty Painter and her husband, Dennis of Holly Springs, NC; three grandchildren, Gabriella Bishop, Olivia Cash and her husband, Patrick, and Alexandra Bishop; eight step-grandchildren, Collin, Morgan, Everett, Jude, Gracie, Tommy, Trey, and Callie; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at Memorial Baptist Church by Pastor Todd Latham.
Burial will be private in Thornrose Cemetery by Pastor Temple Myers.
