Roberta Gayle Castillo
Roberta Gayle Castillo, 72, of Staunton, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024 at the Shenandoah Hospice House in Fishersville. She was born in Bath County on January 30, 1952, a daughter of the late Arthur Brown and Luella Virginia (Lockridge) Cauley, Sr.
Gayle attended cosmetology school and worked as a hairdresser for many years. She enjoyed gardening and having flowers everywhere. Gayle was an artist. She also had an interest in running her own little shop at the Waynesboro Flee market. Gayle loved sharing stories about her adventures in life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, James Purvis and three brothers: James Cauley, Billy McFadden, and David Cauley.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Juan Purvis and Jonah Castillo and wife, Conchetta; 14 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brother, Arthur B. Cauley, Jr.; friends, Diane Huff and Dean Richardson; as well as extended family and friends.
A memorials service will be held at Gayle’s home, 922 Trout St. Apt A, Staunton at 5pm on Monday, January 15, 2024.
She will be missed dearly. She was an amazing strong mother of three sons, the most caring and spunky women on earth. No one can replace the bond of our mother. May you watch over us as the true Guardian Angel that you are! We all love you dearly. May you have a truly eternal rest.
