Robert "Bobby" Alllison Goodson

Robert “Bobby” Allison Goodson, of McKinley, Virginia passed peacefully on Tuesday, October 29th, 2024. 

He will be dearly missed by his three children, his grandchildren, nieces, nephews and his beloved life-partner. Prior to establishing himself in the community of Augusta County, Bobby began his journey in Arlington, Virginia and then raised his family in Chantilly, Virginia. He enjoyed the company of his family, friends and folks that wanted to chat it up. He had an open heart that only grew broader with age.

He was a professional drummer—mostly playing jazz. He served in the US Army, where he played drums in the US Army Band of Fort Benjamin Harrison, and worked in D.C. and Virginia as an optician. Bobby was a longtime member of the Staunton Moose Lodge and the Elliott’s Knob FOE.

He is survived by his three children, Scott (and Holly) Goodson, Kelli (and Frank) Huffman and Andrew Goodson, and by his three grandchildren Bobby, Sarah, and Sam Goodson, and by his devoted life-partner, Mary Pauley. 

He is preceded in passing by his parents, Irvin and Sadie Goodson, his wife Linda Goodson, wife Carol Goodson, and his brother and sister-in-law Chuck and Yvonne Goodson. 

A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Presbyterian Church by Pastor Derek Almarode.

The family will receive friends following the service. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Bethel Presbyterian Church or your favorite charitable organization.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
