Robert "Bob" Ray Cason
Robert Ray “Bob” Cason, 76, husband of Shirley Jean Cason, of Waynesboro, passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at his residence, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Cason was born in Staunton, Virginia on August 17, 1948, a son of the late Arthur Ray Cason and Elinor (Oxford) Cason.
Bob was a veteran of the United States Air Force and an active member of the Aero Drive Church of God. He earned his Forestry degree from Virginia Tech and went on to manage numerous sawmills throughout his career. Bob was known for his hard work, loyalty, and honesty. He made a lasting impact on the lives of his employees, with a former employee once saying, "Bob is a piece of gold with some dust on top. Brush the dust off, and you'll see the gold."
Mr. Cason was affectionately called “Pop” and “Paw Paw” by those closest to him. He deeply cherished his family and time spent together, but above all, giving his heart to God was his greatest accomplishment.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Cason was preceded in death by his brother, Arthur “Luke” Cason; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Eddie and Jewell Craig; a brother-in-law, Eddie Craig, II; two sisters-in-law, Dreama Czerotzki and Cheryl Snead; and a great-grandchild.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 55 years, are his children, Misti Pugliese and her husband, Tony, Angie Earhart (Bruce Chandler), Artie Cason and his wife, Jacque, and Ellie Pugliese and her husband, Gino; a sister-in-law, Donna Cason; seven grandchildren, Luciano Pugliese and his wife, Sara, Roberto Pugliese and his wife, Victoria, Julietta Hampson and her husband, Mic, Catie Lobban and her husband, Chris, Tiffany Lobban and her husband, Brandon, Giuliana Evans and her husband, Jared, and Armani Pugliese; seven great-grandchildren, Titus, Timmy, Remi, Riggins, Elena, Hayden, and Roman; a niece, Chas Shrewsberry; nephews, Randy and Jamie Snead; and a very special friend, Willie Godfrey.
A celebration of life will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Aero Drive Church of God by Pastor Daniel Hines and Dale Raynes. The family will receive friends before the service, from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Artie, Tony, Gino, Luciano, Roberto, Armani, Chris, Brandon, Mic and Jared.
The family would like express a sincere “Thank you” to Dr. Scott Young, River Edge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, UVA Medical Center, UVA Encompass Rehabilitation, UVA Continuum, and Hospice of the Shenandoah especially Joey and Petya for the care and compassion shown to Bob and his family.
