Robert Allen Porter

Robert Allen Porter age 85, of Lahmansville, WV went to be with his Lord on Monday, November 20, 2023 at Cortland Acres in Thomas, WV.

Allen was born on September 4, 1938 in Richwood, West Virginia and was a son of the late Letcher McNeil Porter and Hilda Marian (Riley) Porter. In addition to his parents, Allen was preceded by one niece Romana Jane Woolverton.

Allen is survived by one son, Robert Allen Porter II and wife Lisa Kay of Davis, WV and one daughter, Delphia “Dee Dee” Shrader and husband Chris of Belington, WV; three grandchildren, Luke A. Evans, Louise K. Evans and Owen M. Porter; one brother, Harry M. Porter and wife Nancy of Pasadena, TX and two nieces. 

Allen was a graduate of Richwood High School.  He served in the United States Army from 1961-1963.  Allen was employed at Mt. Storm Power Station for 13 years and retired from Grant County Mulch.  Allen was a faithful member of Falls Assembly of God Church. He was a born-again Spirit filled believer and his passion was ministering to and working with the youth. He was an outdoorsman and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Allen’s family will receive friends on Friday, November 24, 2023 from 5 – 8 PM at Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg. 

Funeral service will be on Saturday, November 24. 2023 at 11 AM at Falls Assembly of God Church with Pastor Vivan Watts and the Rev. Deborah Shreve officiating. Interment will follow in Lahmansville Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Grant County Veterans Honor Guard and WV Army Honor Guard.
