River Steven Higgins

River Steven Higgins, 23, of Dayton, Virginia passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2025.

He was born on May 6, 2002 and was a son of Steven Higgins and Lisa May.

River had worked at Higgins Flooring. He was a POOLEE in the US Marine Corps, and was scheduled to go to boot camp in August. He was a lover of life and had a great joy playing baseball. He always had a smile on his face.

Surviving River in addition to his parents is his step mother, Amy Higgins; two brothers, Dawson Higgins and Castiel Higgins; two sisters, Felany Higgins and Jade Moyer, a special cousin, Bryan Parlette; and cousin Faith Higgins: niece, Riley Matthew; Uncle, Tim Higgins; and his furry companions, Dabs and Jojo.

A service celebrating River's life will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Johnson Funeral & Cremation Service in Bridgewater with Rev. Stephen Creech officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Mayland at 3:45 PM.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 12, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Johnson Funeral & Cremation Service to help with funeral expenses.
