Richard Basil Stuples

Richard Basil Stuples, 87, widower of Nancy Lee (Martin) Stuples, of Sunny Acres Lane, Craigsville, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at his residence. 
Mr. Stuples was born in Craigsville, Virginia on May 11, 1937, a son of the late Luther William Stuples and Kathleen Elizabeth (Knight) Stuples Colvin. 
Richard retired as a lead operator from Wayne-Tex after 33 years of dedicated service. He cherished time spent outdoors, enjoying activities like fishing, hunting, and camping. Mr. Stuples also had a passion for traveling, watching NASCAR, and relished moments with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife of 65 years, Mr. Stuples was preceded in death by a son, Joseph L. “Fuzzy” Stuples; a daughter, Karen L. Strickler; a granddaughter, Stormie Stuples; a daughter-in-law, Sandy Stuples; and a sister, Alice Randolph.
Surviving, are two sons, William “Rick” Stuples and his wife, Cathy of Brownsburg and Stanley L. Stuples of Goshen; ten grandchildren, Russell Strickler, III, Jessica Hinkle and her husband, Jason Sr., Nicole Balser and her husband, Johnathon, Angela Wiles and her husband, Matthew, Phatrisha Strickler, Joseph Stuples, Jr. and his wife, Krystal, Martin “Marty” Stuples Sr. and his wife, Rachel, Virginia K. Knight, William R. Stuples, II and Michael Stuples; eleven great-grandchildren, Julianna Hinkle, Jason Hinkle Jr., Alyssa Craig, Dawson Balser, Emma Wiles, Haley Stuples, Kathleen Stuples, Martin Stuples Jr., Jasmine Mason, Julie Mason and Jaida Mason; a great-great-granddaughter, Ensley; a son-in-law, Russell Strickler, Jr.; and a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Stuples.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at Estaline Valley Church of the Nazarene by Pastor Lewis Knight. 
Burial will follow in Little River Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Joseph Stuples Jr., Martin Stuples Sr., Russell Strickler III, Jason Hinkle Sr., William Stuples II, Matt Wiles, Jason Hinkle Jr., and Jonathan Balser.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
