Rev. August Lupino
Rev. August Anthony Lupino, “Pops, Poppi, Grandpa”, 84, of Waynesboro, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Schenectady, NY, on November 8, 1939, a son of the late Joseph and Nancy Lupino.
August attended Zion Bible College in East Providence, RI. Following his education, he served as a Pastor in Maine, New York, West Virginia, and Vigrinia churches. Outside of his religious work, he enjoyed working on model trains, weightlifting at the Powerhouse Gym, and painting. He was a very talented musician; singing, playing the trombone, bass guitar, organ, and piano. Piano tuning and rebuilding was also a talent of his.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Andrew Lupino, Jr.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Shirley Domina Lupino; children: Toni Lynn Pettigrew Teeter (Wes) of Salisbury, NC, Gina Layne Lupino of Waynesboro, and August “Augie” Anthony Lupino II (Kim) of Waynesboro; grandchildren: Elena Washington, Joanna Morgan (Jesse), Jennifer Pettigrew (Silas), Karla Church, A.J. Simmons, and Isabella Lupino; great grandchildren: Landon Brogan, Olivia Brogan, Ava Washington, Joseph Church, Rhyan Church, and Christopher Morgan; grandson-in-law, Eric Washington; nephew, Michael Lupino (Kasey); special friends, Fred and Anita Burkholder, Donna and Earl Adkins, and friends at Powerhouse Gym- Wayne, Lindsey, Ken, and Ray.
A celebration of life service will be conducted at 12pm on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Waynesboro Mennonite Church, 1801 Monroe St, Waynesboro, with Pastors James Delp and Philip Lehman officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made in August’s memory to Gentiva Hospice, 420 Neff Ave., Suite 110, Harrisonburg, VA, 22801.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Gentiva Hopsice, especially his nurse, Nevin Blosser for their wonderful care of Augus. Also thank you to his church family, Waynesboro Mennonite Church, for their thoughts, prayers, and support.
