Ray Andrew Bosserman

June 25, 1953 - March 12, 2026

Ray Andrew Bosserman, Jr., 72, husband of Rosa Lee (Thorne) Bosserman, of Staunton, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at Augusta Health in Fishersville. 
Mr. Bosserman was born in Staunton, Virginia on June 25, 1953, a son of Emma Jean (Rowe) Bosserman and the late Ray Andrew Bosserman, Sr.
Ray was a veteran of the United States Army and later retired from federal service. Following his military service, he continued his career with the Department of the Army Civilian Division, where he worked as a Senior Programs Analyst. He was a member of the American Legion, the 29th Division Association, and volunteered at the 29th Division Museum. In his spare time, Ray enjoyed traveling and especially cherished time spent with his family.
In addition to his father, Mr. Bosserman was preceded in death by three brothers-in- law, Paul Thorne, Charles Thorne, and Paul Shirey.
Surviving, in addition to his mother and wife of 51 years, is a daughter, Gina Richman and her husband, Michael of Dallas, GA; a son, Gregory “Greg” Bosserman and his wife, Amy of Louisa; three grandchildren, Kya (Bosserman) Mardis and her husband, Riley, Andru Bosserman, and Cooper Richman; a great-granddaughter, Amelia Rose Mardis; two step-grandchildren, Ryan Reed and Anna Tengler; two step-great-grandchildren, Luca and Ella Tengler; a brother, Darryl W. Bosserman, Sr. of Staunton; a special sister-in-law, Sylvia Shirey; a special niece, Sherry Hite; a special family friend, Charles Sheffey; nephews, Darryl Bosserman, Jr., and Michael and Jeff Thorne; a number of special friends; and his pet cat, “Odin”.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 2026 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Reverend William “Bill” Trice.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens. 
Active pallbearers will be Gregory Bosserman, Andru Bosserman, Cooper Richman, Sherry Hite, Danny McCray, Darryl Bosserman, Jr., Riley Mardis, and Jimmy Kilbourne. 
It is suggested that those desiring make memorial contributions to the 29th Division Museum (566 Lee Highway, Verona VA 24482), the Wounded Warrior Project (P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516), or the Staunton- Augusta Regional SPCA (P.O. Box 2014, Staunton, VA 24402).
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
