Phyllis (Harvey) Nicholas Porter
Phyllis (Harvey) Nicholas Porter, 90, widow of Dennis Allyn “Pal” Porter, of Staunton, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024 at her residence.
Mrs. Porter was born in Arvonia, Virginia on August 23, 1934, a daughter of the late Bryan “J.B.” Harvey and Lessie (Noble) Harvey.
Phyllis enjoying reading, doing puzzles and spending time with family and friends. For over thirty-years she kept up the tradition of taking the family out to eat on the first Monday of the month for family time.
In addition to her parents and husband of fifty years, Mrs. Porter was preceded in death by six brothers, Harold Harvey, Jennings B. Harvey, Donald D. Harvey, Bill Harvey, Robert N. Harvey, and Franklin Harvey; four sisters, Dorothy Wade, Arline Wood, Pauline Harvey, and Erma Lewis; and daughter-in-law, Linda Patrick Nicholas.
Surviving, is a son, Kenneth D. “Kenny” Nicholas and Carol Lasher of Swoope; a daughter, Linda N. Wiseman and her husband, Robert “Bud” of Verona; a sister, Marie Browning; four grandsons, Andy Wiseman and his wife, Amy, Rob Wiseman and his wife, Stephanie, Jeff Wiseman and his wife, Jolene, and Judson Nicholas and his wife, Sara; eight grandchildren, Drew, Luke, Amanda, Bobby, Logan, and McKenzie Wiseman, and Josie and Juniper Nicholas; numerous nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Elmer, Mary Harvey-Cochran, Shirley Harvey, and Peggy Harvey; and former daughter-in-law, Vickie Baker.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at St. Paul’s Church in Staunton.
A luncheon will follow at the church.
Burial will be private in Thornrose Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, 4898 Bridge Port Rd, Arvonia, Virginia 23004.
