Paula Jo Barney

Paula Jo Barney, 48, of Staunton, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at Augusta Health in Fishersville. 
Ms. Barney was born in Staunton, Virginia on September 14, 1977, a daughter of the late Joyce Ann (Bryant) Barney. 
Paula was a devoted employee of Staunton Valley Mission, where she found true purpose in serving others and deeply loved the work she did. Always willing and ready to help anyone in need, Paula lived her life with generosity, compassion, and a joyful spirit. She loved life and cherished every moment spent with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. Paula found happiness in cooking and baking for those she loved, and she treasured time at the beach—Myrtle Beach holding a special place in her heart. Her kindness, warmth, and love for others will be remembered always.
In addition to her mother, Ms. Barney is preceded in death by uncles and aunts, James Bryant, Charles Bryant, Betty Pietrowicz, and Linda Pullen. 
Surviving, is her companion, Quincy Calloway of Staunton; a daughter, Carlene Kier of Staunton; a son, Christopher Barney of Staunton; four grandchildren, Messiah Southers, Ezra Southers, Aubree Jackson, and Kiyhiem Ragland, Jr.; two sisters, Tessie Ogden of Stuarts Draft and Cherrie Griffin and her husband, Roger of New Hope; a daughter-in-law, Kaitlin Jackson of Staunton; and a number of nieces and nephews. 
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 13, 2026 at Augusta Street United Methodist Church by Pastor John Benson. 
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
