Patsy G. Cook
Patsy Jean (Griffin) Cook, 63, of Churchville passed away Wednesday (April 3, 2024) in the University of Virginia Hospital.
Born January 7, 1961 in Staunton, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Garfield and Julie Virginia (Eckerd) Griffin.
Patsy graduated from Buffalo Gap High School and attended Dominion Business School. She was happily employed as an operator for Cadence Blades in Staunton for 15 years. Patsy was a member of Jerusalem Chapel United Brethren in Christ Church and was an avid reader.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Herbert and Hazel Griffin and niece, Tasha Griffin. Surviving are her husband of 43 years, Henry “Alvin” Cook of Churchville; a son, Michael Wayne Cook of Churchville; a stepson, James Henry Cook and wife Kristen of Staunton; two brothers, Harold Griffin and wife Bonnie of Churchville, and Harry Griffin and wife Susie of Swoope; two step-grandchildren, Layla and Oliver Cook; and nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 8 in Jerusalem Chapel Church, officiated by Pastor George Etling. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Tim “Woody” Eckard, Brian Moats, Carl “Jake” Cook, Woody Griffin, Griffin, Larry Griffin, and Fred Griffin.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bear Funeral Home.
