Patricia Mastronicola

March 8, 1943 - November 1, 2025

Patricia (Quaranta) Mastronicola, wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 1, 2025.

Patricia was born on March 8, 1943, in Brooklyn, NY, to John and Claudia Quaranta. She graduated from St. Rita’s High School and on November 1, 1964, married Nicholas Mastronicola.

Patricia had a love of simple pleasures: ice cream, anything chocolate, and the comforting scent of a well-loved book. Throughout her life in New York and later, in 1998, when she relocated to Charlottesville, Virginia, she worked in various businesses as an office administrator and in the restaurant industry as a server and banquet planner. A lifelong reader, she preferred the rustle of pages to a digital screen. Patricia achieved a life-long goal when she earned her Associate’s Degree later in her life from Orange County Community College, NY. She instilled in her children the value of education, reading, and life-long learning.

Patricia’s favorite place in the world was the ocean, where she found the most peace while endlessly watching the waves and seagulls.

Those who knew Patricia will likely remember her complete disregard for time. Patricia was never a morning person — her spark seemed to come alive after 6 p.m. — and she was always up for an outing, so long as no one was in a hurry. Though perpetually late to nearly everything, it never seemed to bother her. Whenever she arrived, it was right on time for her.

Patricia loved her children and grandchildren deeply and took an interest and active role in their lives. You could always count on her to fully embrace not only the accomplishments and interests of her loved ones, but also the way they moved through their lives. She beamed with pride when she shared pictures and stories of her children and grandchildren. Her many treasured trips to California, Colorado, and Florida to visit her children and their families were always undertaken with joy. She embarked on numerous trips with her eldest daughter as well.

Patricia is survived by her husband, Nicholas; her siblings, John Quaranta and Paula Lewis; her children, Deborah, Michael, Tracie; and four grandchildren, Kiersten, Rheannon, Grayson, Hudson, two sets of twins who brought endless joy and laughter to her life.

A private celebration of Patricia’s life will be held at a later date. In her honor, her family encourages everyone to take a walk by the ocean, enjoy a scoop of ice cream, or get lost in a good book — just as she would have loved.
