Orva Mae Huffman Lambert

August 23, 1941 - September 14, 2024

Orva Mae Huffman Lambert, 83, of Dayton passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at King’s Daughters Community Health and Rehabilitation in Staunton. Mrs. Lambert lived with Parkinson’s Disease for many years.

Orva is survived by her daughter, Anne Marie Lambert DePoy, and husband, Clint, of Dayton; three grandchildren, Jaxson Hunter DePoy, Anderson Clinton DePoy, and Madison Grace DePoy; sisters-in-law, Orva Showalter of Bridgewater, Carolyn Wenger of Dayton, and Zandra Miller and husband, Donnie, of Dayton. Additionally, Orva is survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as her beloved cats, Marshmallow and Egypt.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Adrian Hyman Lambert; sister, Linda Huffman Bible; and brothers-in-law, John Henry Showalter and Joseph Sterling Wenger.

Orva was born at Rockingham Memorial Hospital on August 23, 1941, to Orey Kenneth Huffman and Sarah Elva Rexrode Huffman, both of whom are now deceased. She grew up in Fort Seybert, West Virginia, before moving with her family to Dayton where she graduated from Turner Ashby High School in 1959. Orva and Adrian were married at the Dayton United Methodist Church on December 21, 1973.

Over the years, Orva was employed at Dunham-Bush in Harrisonburg, Koontz Appliance Service Center in Harrisonburg, and most recently, Marshalls Distribution Center in Bridgewater.

Orva cherished her friends and family, delighting in sharing meals and sending cards to show she cared. She was a devoted member of the Montezuma Church of the Brethren, where she taught Sunday school and volunteered in various roles over the years. She found great fellowship and friendship within the Montezuma community.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of King’s Daughters Community Health and Rehabilitation and Legacy Hospice for their outpouring of love and support. Their kindness and care are appreciated more than words can express. The family also wishes to thank each friend, family member, and neighbor who visited and supported Orva during her illness. Your kindness was deeply felt and greatly appreciated.

A graveside service will be held at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg on Tuesday, September 17 at 2pm, officiated by Pastor David R. Miller.
