Nicole Lynn McCarthy

Nicole Lynn McCarthy, 46, of Grottoes, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at University of Virginia Medical Center.

She was born on June 27, 1979, and was a daughter of Kathy (McCarthy) Monroe and the late William Garland.

Nicole spent her career as an Assistant Deli Manager where she excelled in customer service, leadership, and creating beautiful cakes for everyone to enjoy. She was a talented and passionate cake decorator.

Nicole was full of creativity, love, and kindness. She could create something beautiful out of nothing and carried a true one of a kind soul inside of her. She was a beautiful, vibrant, talented woman who left a long lasting impact on her community and anyone that had the honor of knowing her.

Nicole is survived by a daughter, Kenya L. McCarthy and wife, Mia Irvin; a son, Kamal L. McCarthy; two siblings, William Garland, II and Amanda McCarthy; nieces and nephew, Tyquasha Weaver and husband Malakai, Grace McCarthy, and Akil Jennings; great-nephew, Xavier Weaver; aunts and uncles, Jennifer McCarthy, Elizabeth Ann Spencer and husband Skeet, Olivia Ross and husband Brian, Anthony Smith and wife Denise, and Patricia Gray.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Adrine McCarthy and Eula Mae Garland. As well as her aunts Terrie Garland, and Sylvia Jean Breckenridge and her husband Frank.

A service celebrating Nicole's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at Johnson Funeral & Cremation Service, Grottoes Chapel with Bishop T.E. Payne, Sr. officiating.
