Nancy S. Wiseman
SWOOPE – Nancy (Sprouse) Ailer Wiseman, 86, of Swoope, passed away Tuesday (July 23, 2024) in Brookdale Staunton.
Born June 8, 1938 in Craigsville, she was a daughter of the late Darwin “Buck” Sprouse and Edna (Miller) Sprouse. Nancy was a long-time beautician and hairdresser. She was a member of Jerusalem Chapel United Brethren in Christ Church and was absolutely devoted to her precious family.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Sidney Boyd Ailer, Sr.; her second husband, Marvin Alexander Wiseman; a son, Sidney Boyd Ailer, Jr.; sisters Lula Sprouse Weaver, Patsy Sprouse Singleton, and Beula Sprouse Cale; brothers Russell Sprouse, Richard Sprouse, Albert Sprouse, and Avery Sprouse; and a granddaughter, Christy Ailer Centeno.
She is survived by two children, Curtis W. Ailer and wife Ellen of Swoope, and Deborah C. Bethel of Verona; a sister, Dolly Sprouse Balser; grandchildren Floyd Bethel, Jr., Michelle Spradlin Lotts and husband Chris Lotts, Allen Ailer, and William “Buck” Ailer and wife Kristin Ailer; and great-grandchildren Austin Spradlin and wife Courteney Spradlin, Samantha Spradlin and fiancé Blaze Herring, Sierra Bethel, Jordan Mason, Desiree Mason, Sid Mason, Lennox Ailer, Abel Ailer, Jack Ailer and Libbie Ailer.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 26 in Jerusalem Chapel Church, officiated by her great-nephew, Rev. Mark Tinsley. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Allen and Buck Ailer, Austin Spradlin, Floyd Bethel, Chris Lotts and Blaze Herring. Honorary pallbearers will be nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday in Bear Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Curtis and Ellen Ailer.
Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Legacy Hospice.
