Melba Melton Cline
Melba Melton Cline, a resident of the Bridgewater Retirement Community died on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.
She was born on April 30, 1933 in Waynesboro, a daughter of the late David G. and Mary Faye (Craun) Melton.
Melba grew up in Staunton, graduated from Lee High School and attended Bridgewater College. She worked in the business offices of Southern Electric and Mary Baldwin College. She worked as a librarian at Mary Baldwin college, the City of Staunton, and was co-owner and manager of the North Augusta Variety Shop in Staunton. From childhood, Melba attended and became a member of the Staunton Church of the Brethren where she taught youth Sunday School and choir. She was a co-organist and in recent years served as the Church Librarian. She enjoyed flowers and flower gardening. She also enjoyed doing needlework, passing along creations to friends and family members.
On June 2, 1974, she married Alfred Ray Cline, who survives.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Garland and Sheldon Melton.
A graveside service will be conducted 10 AM on Friday, Oct. 4, 2024 at Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren cemetery.
A memorial service will be conducted 10 AM on Saturday, Oct. 5th at Lantz Chapel of the Bridgewater Home, with Chaplin Russ Barb and Fred Swartz officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Heifer International, PO Box 8058, Little Rock, AR 72203, or the charity of your choice in honor of Melba.
