Mary Preston

Mary Helen Preston, 73, of Dublin, VA, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2024 at Augusta Nursing and Rehab in Fishersville. She was born in Radford on August 12, 1951, a daughter of the late Thomas Ballard and Judith Ann (Jackson) Preston.

Mary was a member of the 1969 graduating class of Dublin High School. She received her bachelor’s in Business from Radford University in 1982. Mary worked for Virginia Tech Fleet Services in Blacksburg where she won several awards for her excellence in service. She was a member of Dublin Presbyterian Church and later Christiansburg Church of God. She taught Sunday school and was very involved in her church. Mary was a leader of the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts of Troop 45 in Dublin. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with family and friends. Mary loved people and never seemed to meet a stranger. Her smile was contagious. She had a special interest in music and was an avid Virginia Tech and Dallas Cowboys Fan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Montgomery “T.M.”Preston.

She is survived by her beloved “baby brother”, Jack Graham Preston and wife, Giovanna Preston of Staunton; nephew, Jacob Thomas Ballard Preston of Charlotte, NC; niece, Jacqueline Grace Preston of Charlottesville; cousin, Becky Brown Rankin of Marion; as well as extended family and friends.

There will be no formal services.
