Mary Jean Hamilton Clark, 87, passed away into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at her residence in Augusta County. She was born on December 1, 1936, in Vesuvius, to the late Edwin Powell and Dorothea "Ressie" Virginia Fitzgerald Hamilton.Mary worked for many years as a dedicated and talented seamstress. She was a devoted member of Emory United Methodist Church in Vesuvius, where her faith and commitment to her community were evident in her many contributions. She found great joy in reading her Bible and tackling word search puzzles, which provided her with moments of reflection and relaxation. However, it was her time spent with her beautiful family that brought her the greatest happiness.She leaves behind her four children, Willard Lee Clark and his wife, Cathy, Louise Virginia Clark, William "Billy" Hamilton Clark and his wife, Kim, and Michael Lewis Clark and his wife, Brenda; her grandchildren, Daniel Clark and his wife, Wanda, Joshua Clark, Missy Tomlin and her husband, Justin, Dale Lunsford and his wife, Kim, Adam Clark and his wife, Jen, Aaron Clark and his wife, Benta, Jerrett Clark and his significant other, Emmie Lou, Cassee Clark, Sarah Blackwell, and Stephanie McCullough and her husband, Dalton, twenty great-grandchildren; her brother, Mack Stuart Hamilton; her sisters, Edna Mae Hamilton Fitzgerald and Nellie Raye Hamilton Cash; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.In additions to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband of forty-seven years, Willard Franklin Clark; her brothers, Alfred Maynard, George Matthew, Roy David, Sr., and Tom Marvin Hamilton; and a sister, Ruby Annette Hamilton Nichols.A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Emory United Methodist Church in Vesuvius with the Reverend Nona Allen officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 AM.Interment will follow at Old Providence ARP Church Cemetery in Spottswood.Servings as pallbearers will be Adam Clark, Aaron Clark, and Daniel Lee Clark, Dale Lunsford, Chase Johnson, David Bennett, and Justin Tomlin.It is suggested that in lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to Emory United Methodist Church (429 Tye River Turnpike, Vesuvius, VA 24483).The family wishes to especially thank the staff and nurses of Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah for all of their care, kindness, and compassion during this time.
