Mary Frances (Hoover) Batterman

Mary Frances (Hoover) Batterman, 78, of Harrisonburg, Virginia passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Blue Ridge Nursing and Rehab.

She was born on May 5, 1947 and was a daughter of the late Erman and Cleo (Harold) Hoover.

Mary was a devoted member of Beaver Creek Church. She had worked at Valley Discount Furniture, Rack & Sack before retiring from James Madison University. Mary loved to go out to eat, Ice Cream and sitting on her front porch and visiting with family and friends. She enjoyed collecting tea pots and bowls and pictures.

Mary was united in marriage on March 14, 1969 to Jacob R. Batterman, Jr. who preceded her in death on July 6, 2004.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Pamela (Bruce) Shaffer; two brothers, David Hoover and Edward Hoover; four sisters, Margaret Waggy, Erma Sager, Anna Simmers, Cathleen Wilfong; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her spouse and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, E. Leroy Hoover and Linford Harold.

A service celebrating Mary's life will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Beaver Creek Church with Pastor Ryan Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Beaver Creek Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Bridgewater.
