Marvin M. Jackson
GOSHEN – Marvin Matthew Jackson, 87, of Goshen, passed away Thursday (February 22, 2024).
Born September 12, 1936 in Goshen, he was a son of the late Burlin Jackson and Hilda (Bowles) Jackson Miller.
Marvin began working at the young age of eleven, and was a long-time employee of Jim Gum Logging where he had a reputation as a hard worker and an excellent truck driver. He truly loved his work, and also enjoyed gardening, He had an enthusiasm for hunting in his younger years, and enjoyed watching westerns in his later years.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nettie Louise (Warren) Jackson; a son-in-law, Doug Campbell; a brother, Harry Jackson; a sister, Dorothy Stuples; a half-brother, Sam Miller; and three half-sisters, Joyce Miller, Wilma Miller and Shirley Miller.
He is survived by two daughters, Diane Campbell of Roanoke and Glenda Oscar (John Thornton) of Greenville; a half-brother, James Miller of Goshen; two granddaughters, Cassie Oscar and Allison Oscar (Mickey Sheets); one great-granddaughter, Willow Sheets; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held in Oak Lawn Memory Gardens.
The family is grateful to John Thornton for opening his home to Marvin and providing care and support as his health declined.
