Mark Raines
Mark D. Raines II, 40, of Staunton, unexpectedly passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025 at his residence. He was born in Waynesboro on September 7, 1985 a son of Mark D. Raines Sr., Terry Sheets Hanger and his step father, Robert W. Donaldson.
Mark graduated from Wilson Memorial High School. He loved to fish, draw- he was a very talented artist-, building models, and repairing computers and tablets. Mark was devoted and loving father and his children meant everything to him.
Mark was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Claude Edward Sheets, Sr. and Delores Desper Hale; paternal grandparents: Wayne Jackson Raines, Sr. and Mary Maupin Raines; and an uncle, Wayne Raines.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his beloved children, Cylas Conner Smith and Isabella Rose Raines; grandfather, Jerry Hale, Sr.; siblings: Chelsie Roudabush and husband, Jeremy, Matthew Davis, Harley Raines, Damian Raines, and Dylan Raines; Mark’s “Little Buddies”, his nephews, Noah and Finn Roudabush; as well as his additional three other nephews and one niece; his aunt, Tayna Raines Stover and husband, Mike; uncle, Eddie Sheets and wife, Dawn Davis Sheets; special “Momma Connie”, Connie Howard; as well as a number of cousins, additional family members, and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2pm on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home with Pastors Dave Chappell and Richard Ammond officiating. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 13, 2025 from 6pm until 8pm at the funeral home.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Mark’s “Unk” Eddie and Dawn Sheets for always being there and always being a big part of his life.
Mark wanted everyone to know “Life is too short to be unhappy. You have to take the good with the bad, smile when you are sad, love what you got and always remember what you had. Always forgive but never forget. Learn from mistakes. People change, things go wrong. But always remember, life goes on.”
