Mark Binebrink

May 27, 1965 - November 1, 2025

Mark Rodney Binebrink, 60, of Strasburg, Virginia, passed peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at his home in Strasburg.

Mark was born in Centreville, Maryland on May 27, 1965, the son of Eddie D. and the late Glorieta A. “Retsy” Binebrink. Mark was proud of his early childhood on the Eastern Shore and would share stories of going crabbing, picking up shark teeth in the local creek, and playing baseball with his friends all summer long. Mark moved to Strasburg, Virginia with his parents and brother in 1976, making a second home in the Shenandoah Valley. He was a 1983 graduate of Strasburg High School where he played football and baseball.  Mark enjoyed many things but spending time with his family or outdoors was his favorite. He was an avid deer hunter, surf fisherman, goat farmer, a Devil’s Den Ghosthunter, and active adult volunteer with Boy Scouts Troop 5. He loved trips with his family from Gettysburg, PA to Buxton, NC to Orlando, FL.  He was a loving husband to his wife, Mary E. Binebrink, as well as a proud father of his children and any of their achievements. Everyone who knew Mark knew him as a compassionate and devoted man and loved being around him.  In addition to his mother, Retsy, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Margaret B. Binebrink; uncle & aunt, James S. & Barbara “Peggy” Starkey; his cousin, Kevin S. Starkey; and stepson, Michael S. Derda.

In addition to his wife, Mary, he is survived by his three children, Matthew R. Broy of Strasburg, VA, Peyton E.B. Claud (Haydn) of Richmond, VA, and Nicholas A. Binebrink of Strasburg, VA; his two step-daughters, Sarah E. Derda (Seth) of Boulder, CO and Jennifer T. Bell of Strasburg, VA; father, Eddie D. Binebrink; brother, Terry D. Binebrink (Karla); and parents-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Michael Edenton of Lehighton, PA.

In honoring the wishes of Mark, he will be cremated, and a private ceremony will be held for the family. Mark’s cremains will spread in his favorite place, his family’s farm in Star Tannery. A celebration of life for friends and the community will be planned by family for a later date.

Memorials may be made in his name to the ALS Association at 1300 Wilson Boulevard, Suite 600, Arlington, VA 22209 or online at als.org.
