Marilyn P. Freck
STAUNTON – Marilyn Proctor Freck, 99, went home to be with the Lord on July 7, 2025. She had been a resident of The Legacy at North Augusta.
Marilyn was born in Mount Solon on April 4, 1926, and was a daughter of the late Clyde Wilson Proctor and Mary Anna (Driver) Proctor. She earned a Bachelor’s degree from Berry College in Rome, Georgia, and a Master’s degree from the University of Virginia. Her career encompassed teaching in elementary schools in North Carolina, Virginia, Ohio and California. She spent most of her adult life in San Carlos, California and Bellingham, Washington. Marilyn was a talented watercolor artist and an avid gardener. She and her husband enjoyed building model airplanes and flying them at events far and wide. They also enjoyed restoring and showing classic and antique cars. Marilyn had been an active member of Bellingham Baptist Church.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Gerald Alton “Jerry” Freck; a sister, Ann Proctor Hanger; and a brother, Marion Bruce Proctor.
She is survived by a niece, Martha Hanger Glass, and a nephew, Robert Philip Hanger and his wife Gail.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 15 in Green Hill Cemetery, officiated by Chaplain Daniel Hess.
