Marie Bernadette (Doyle) Bishop

Marie Bernadette (Doyle) Bishop, 84, of Mt. Crawford, passed away on March 9, 2025, in Sentara RMH Medical Center.

She was born in Ireland on May 2, 1940, a the daughter of the late Lawrence S. and Mary E. (Christie) Doyle.

Marie served in the British Army as an ambulance driver. After meeting her husband in Germany, she came to the United States working for James Madison University until retirement.

On November 26, 1966, she was united in marriage to Carl Edward Bishop, who survives.

She is also survived by daughter, Deborah Papotnik and husband, Mark of Elkton;son, Mark Bishop of Melbourne, FL; sister, Dina Carey of Dublin, Ireland; sister-in-law, Phyllis Liskey, of Keezletown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 14, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Bridgewater.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 15th at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. An Inurnment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. A reception will follow at Johnston Hall at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Memorial donations can be made in Marie's name to the Blessed Sacrament Food Pantry, and/or the Harrisonburg Rescue Squad.
