Madeline Gail (Trent) Fitzgerald

Madeline Gail (Trent) Fitzgerald, 70, widow of David Caskie Fitzgerald of Courtney Woods Lane, Stuarts Draft, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at her residence. 
Mrs. Fitzgerald was born in Waynesboro, Virginia on October 1, 1955, a daughter of the late Charlie Cline and Frances May (Dawson) Trent.
A woman of steadfast faith and gentle kindness, she served faithfully as a Sunday school teacher at Midway Bible Baptist Church and devoted herself to her church, her family, and her many friends. After retiring from The Cheese Shop, her happiest days were those shared with her beloved grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Mike Trent and a sister, Katherine Trent.
     Surviving is a son, David C. “Putt” Fitzgerald, II and his wife, Sylvia of Stuarts Draft; a daughter, Brittney G. Penny and her husband, Daniel of Waynesboro; six grandchildren, Tyler, Dustyn, Eryn, Aidan, Riley, and Liam; three great-grandchildren, Adalyn, Octavian, and Nicholas; two sisters, Mary Alice Trent and Margaret Joy Taylor, both of Stuarts Draft; four brothers, George Trent and his wife, Jean of Waynesboro, Benny Trent of Stuarts Draft, Charlie “Moo” Trent and his wife, Carolyn of Waynesboro, and John W. Trent of Stuarts Draft.
     A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 15, 2025 at Augusta Memorial Park by Reverend Richard Owen.
     Active pallbearers will be Charlie Trent, III, Owen Trent, Curtis Benson, Scott Davis, Timothy Davis, and Trenton Davis.
     The family will receive friends anytime following the service at her residence, 58 Courtney Woods Lane, Stuarts Draft, Virginia 24477. 
     It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-1942. 
     Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
