Louis Hayes Barker III born to Louis Hayes Barker Jr. and Josephine Pimentel on September 24th 1964 in Providence RI, passed away on Monday July 15th, 2024. He was survived by his daughter, Bethany Miller (Barker), his son Bradley Barker, his granddaughter, Irelynn Miller, his mother, Josephine Pimentel, his sister, Dawn Moshier , her husband Robert Moshier, his niece Courtney Moshier, and his nephew Christopher Moshier.
Lou served in the United States Army from 1983 through 1988 where he received “The Army Achievement Medal” for his outstanding performance of his duties as a level 4 specialist.
One of Bethany’s fondest memories of her father was when her father taught her to shoot a BB gun in the backyard of their Rhode Island home. “I remember him being so proud of how great of a shot I was! We spent hours that day doing target practice.”
Bradley describes his father as having been warm and giving great hugs and snuggles. Of his parents, Lou was always the one to say “yes” whenever Bradley wanted something. One of Brad’s favorite pastimes with his father was going out and having father and son camping trips.
He was always able to bring a smile to your face with his silly demeanor, and he could make light of almost any situation. A true goofball in spirit.
An adventurer at heart, Lou loved to travel and experience new things with his family. He travelled around the world, from England to China to Panama. Lou was a project starter, always determined to be doing something around the house and yard. He was an avid gardener, growing his own vegetables and fruits in the back yard.
Lou lost his wife of 33 years, Melissa Barker to breast cancer only 3 weeks prior to passing himself. Melissa was the love of his life and those close to Lou believe that his broken heart from having lost her, contributed to his passing at such an early age.
Lou was incredibly intelligent and ambitious, starting his own businesses AccuAmp Inc. in 2006 and Greenpoint Enterprise in 2023.
Lou graduated Roger Williams College with his Associates degree in Engineering Technology and a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
He furthered his education at Tulane University and accomplished his Masters in Business Administration.
Lou also was a certified Six Sigma black belt from Arizona State University/ Six Sigma Management Institute.
Lou was loved and will be missed.
