Lonnie Ervin Simmons

Lonnie Ervin Simmons, Sr., 64, husband of Wanda J. (Berry) Simmons, of Staunton, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2025 at his residence. 
Mr. Simmons was born in Staunton, Virginia on August 3, 1960, a son of the late Boone Lester Simmons and Lula Mae (Sprouse) Simmons Robertson. 
Lonnie retired from Asplundh Tree Company as a foreman. He enjoyed listening to Pink Floyd, playing disc golf, and riding his Harley. 
In addition to his parents, Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by a daughter, Jillian Leigh Simmons; a brother, Lenwood Franklin Simmons, Sr.; and two sisters, Aven Caroline (Simmons) Brown and Patricia Ellen (Simmons) Truslow. 
Surviving, in addition to his wife of eight years, are two sons, Lonnie Ervin Simmons, Jr. and his wife, Anna of Staunton and Tyler Wayne Hamrick and his wife, Chelsea of Harrisonburg; four daughters, Sterling Nycole Solt and her husband, Joseph of Ruckersville, Jennifer Danielle Simmons of New Hope, Stephanie Nicole Rose and her husband, Brandon of Staunton, and Gina Marie Hamrick of Broadway; three brothers, Lester Delice Simmons of Stuarts Draft, Edward Simmons of Staunton, and Jesse J. Robertson of Staunton; two sisters, Nancy M. Simmons and Linda A. Waybright, both of Staunton; twenty grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; special friends, Timmy Lotts and David Truslow; and his pet dogs, “Tank” and “Angel”.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A celebration of life will be held 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2025 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Tex Ramsey. 
Burial will be follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be his sons, Lonnie E. Simmons, Jr. and Tyler W. Hamrick, and Timmy Lotts, David Truslow, Seth Simmons, Anthony Maclam, and Joseph Solt.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
