Lina Mercedes Elliott (Bolivar) passed away peacefully on August 16, 2024, at the age of 94 in Fishersville, Virginia. Born on September 24, 1929, in Caracas, Venezuela, Lina lived a full and devout life marked by her deep faith, love for family, and a remarkable memory that never missed a face or place.A lifelong devoted Catholic, Lina was a regular attendee at St. Francis Church in Staunton, where she found great solace in Mass, prayer, and fellowship. Known affectionately as “Nanny” to many, Lina had a special gift for childcare, nurturing countless children with her homemade treats and memorable birthday cakes. Her nurturing spirit and joyful demeanor left a lasting impact on all the lives she touched.Lina cherished her youth spent outdoors and carried her love for adventure into adulthood. While attending business school in New York City, she relished ice skating in Times Square and spending time in Central Park with friends, experiences that highlighted her adventurous spirit and love for life.Lina is survived by her loving children, Tony Elliott, Angie Shull (Jeff), and Rick Elliott (Susan); her cherished grandchildren, Ryan Shull (Stacy), Logan Shull (Rachel), Tanya Cox (Don), and Alex Elliott; and her adored great-grandchildren, Mikayla Cox, Doni Cox, Myles Shull, and Kylee Shull. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Maurice Elliott, and her granddaughter, Camryn Shull.Lina's legacy of love, faith, and compassion will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate to know her. Her family and friends will miss her deeply and continue to honor her memory by living out the values she taught by example.The Mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, with Reverend Matthias Lusembo officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the Mass at 12:00 PM.Burial will immediately follow at Oak Lawn Mausoleum & Memory Gardens.Active pallbearers will be Ryan Shull, Logan Shull, Brice Wheeler, Richard Elliott, Alexander Elliott and Tony Elliott.A special thanks to Shenandoah Hospice, the Shenandoah House and her caregiver, Debby Pritchett.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Augusta Health Shenandoah House (111 N campus Dr., Fishersville, VA. 22939).
