Leon Harris

February 26, 1976 - December 17, 2024

Leon E. Harris (Geno) was a loving, hardworking, and kindhearted soul. He was born in Waynesboro, Virginia on February 26, 1976, to his mother, Cora E. Morgan, and his father, Owen E. Freeman.

Leon was self-employed, completing jobs ranging from masonry to his latest, moving furniture. When he was not working, he spent his time with his numerous friends, beloved cousins, and family, both near and far. Leon was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan who cheered for them with pride. Leon was well known for his infectious smile and joyous laugh that could be heard and identified even in the loudest rooms. Leon departed from our presence, but never our hearts on December 17th, 2024.

He was preceded in death by his father, Owen Freemen, Grandfather Phillip Harris, and Maternal Uncles, Phillip Harris Jr., Stanley Harris, and Diego Harris.

He is survived by his mother, Cora E. Morgan and stepfather, David Morgan; his Brothers, David Morgan (Franny Morgan), and Ernest Morgan (Brandi Morgan), and their children, Zania and Ezra Morgan; his Stepsister, Katie Armstrong (Derek Armstrong) and their children; his Grandmother, Phyllis Harris; his Aunts, Pastor Sylvia Spears and Kathy Mason; his Uncles, Leon Harris, Willy Harris, and Elder Roscoe Harris; his Paternal Aunt, Betty Johnson, Pearl Freeman, and Cecil Freeman; his Paternal Uncle, Richard Freeman. In addition to the members above, Leon has extended paternal brothers and sisters, as well as numerous cousins who were more like siblings. Leon thrived when he was surrounded by these beloved family members and his close friends, but to know Leon meant that you were a friend, which was equivalent to family.

Please come to celebrate his life and share his memory with others that he loved and who loved him at the Memorial Service which will be held at 4:00 pm, Sunday, December 22, 2024, at St. James Baptist Church, 1094 Albemarle Avenue, Waynesboro, Virginia officiated by Elder Roscoe Harris of Bible Truth.

There will be no public viewing or visitation at the funeral home.

The family will receive visitors Friday, December 20, 2024 and Saturday, December 21, 2024 at his mother’s home in Waynesboro, VA.
