Laura Elaine (Via) Humphries
Laura Elaine (Via) Humphries, “Baby Girl – Hummingbird” 46, wife of Jason Russell Humphries of Vesuvius, passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2025 in Waynesboro.
Mrs. Humphries was born in Waynesboro, Virginia on May 25, 1979, a daughter of Ellis Carson Via and Robin Iris (Brown) Hamilton.
Laura was raised in the Foursquare Gospel Church and was baptized in Victory Baptist Church. She was employed by Pyramid Health Care as a patient transporter, she enjoyed traveling, fishing and enjoyed her “God given talent” playing the piano.
She was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Bill and Blanche (Roadcap) Peace; maternal grandparents, Aubrey and Rose (James) Brown; a brother, Jeremy Kenneth Hamilton; and a mother-in-law, Beverly (Painter) Humphries.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 6 years and parents are two sons, Caleb S. Via of Waynesboro and Tristan J.O. Campbell and his wife Lia of Stuarts Draft; a daughter, Courtney R. Carter and her fiancé Hunter Morris of Waynesboro; two brothers, Chris W. Brown and his wife Cherie of Waynesboro and Joshua D. Hamilton and his wife Denise of Fishersville; a “sister”, Molly O. Fitzgerald and her husband James of Staunton; two grandchildren, Waylon Via and Maverick Morris who lovingly called Laura “Minnie” and also an expected grand-child; two nieces, Emiley Brown and Sarah Small and her husband Michael; two great-nephews, Lane Lawhorn and Crew Small; and a great-niece Layah Lawhorn.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 19, 2025 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory or at the Hamilton residence.
A Memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 20, 2025 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastors Corey Smallwood and Dennis Taylor.
