WEST AUGUSTA – Larry Franklin Hamilton, 79, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2026 at his home.

Born January 24, 1947 in West Augusta, he was a son of the late Rufus Sanford and Bertie Aline (Johnson) Hamilton.

He was a 1966 graduate of Buffalo Gap High School and a member of West Augusta United Methodist Church. Larry was employed by VDOT for 35 years: he worked with the landscape crew for 24 of those years, and retired as maintenance supervisor. He was an avid hunter, outdoorsman, and gardener. Larry also was a dedicated caretaker for West Augusta Cemetery for several decades.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Barbara Zimmerman; and two brothers, B. Wayne and Ernest C. Hamilton. Surviving are his beloved wife, Ruby Mae (Losh) Hamilton, whom he married August 12, 1966; son Jeffrey L. Hamilton of West Augusta; daughter Wendy Hamilton (Shawn Abshire) of Churchville; brother Sanford J. Hamilton of West Augusta; sister Nancy A. Knick of Deerfield; grandchildren Jarrett Phillips (wife Felicia) and Gracie Phillips; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 10 in West Augusta Cemetery, officiated by Mr. Gary Armstrong.
