Kurtis Adam Simmons

Kurtis Adam Simmons, 31, of Dayton, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2025.

He was born on October 19, 1993 and was a son of Jerry Simmons, Jr. and Katrina Beth Ray.

Kurtis had currently worked at Walmart and previously worked at Jalapeno's and Urgie's in Bridgewater. Kurtis took pride in his work and always strove to do a good job in whatever he did. Kurtis enjoyed playing golf with his brothers, skateboarding and loved music. He was an avid sports fan, and loved the Eagles, Pirates, and Bruins. Kurtis loved to travel, and had traveled to Europe multiple times and many different places across the U.S.

In addition to his parents, Kurtis is survived by two brothers, Colton Simmons and Clint (Chloe) Simmons; step-brother, Jeffery Sager; step-sister, Josie Chiemeke; grandmother, Ruby Ray; nephew, Bucklie "Buckle"; nieces, Piper "Peep" and Parker "Parkway"; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; special friends, Lee Rohodes, Jovana Djurdjevic, Samantha "Sammie" Allman.

He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Jerry Simmons, Sr. and Delores "Jean" Simmons; maternal grandfather, Robert Ray; uncles, Derrick Ray and Chad Ray; cousins, Channing and Conner.

A service celebrating Kurtis's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at Johnson Funeral Service Bridgewater Chapel with Pastor Patrick Pettit officiating. Burial will follow at Rawley Springs Mennonite Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, April 21, 2025 at the funeral home.
