Kenneth Gorby
Kenneth Gorby, aged 61, passed away on July 13, 2024, in Fishersville, Virginia, surrounded by his loving family. Ken was a cherished husband to Sydney Gorby and a devoted father to Amanda Gorby, Trenton Gorby, Natalie Gorby, and Victoria Gorby. He was a beloved brother to Mark Gorby and Tammy Woodson and a loving son to Barbara and Bill Carrico. Born on January 25, 1963, in Fairfax, Virginia, Ken's life was marked by his love for Jesus, his family, and others.
He graduated from Stafford High School in 1981 and then went to Radford University, earning his Bachelor's in Marketing in 1986. He met his wife, Sydney Gorby while a student at Radford. They were married in 1989 in Wintergreen, Virginia. In the 1990s, they entered the ministry as staff members for Great Commission Ministries and later served at Campus Crusade for Christ. In 2001, Ken began his ministry with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in the Blue Ridge Area, serving for 23 years as the FCA Multi-Area Director and then as Metro Area Director.
Kenny and Sydney were married faithfully for 35 years. Ken was an avid hunter who took his children on early morning hunts. He enjoyed fishing with his son and antiquing with his daughters. Ken's life reflected his faith, as he was devoted to the Lord, loved his family, preached the gospel to the lost, and served the body of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Sydney Gorby; his children, Amanda Gorby, Trenton Gorby, Natalie Gorby, and Victoria Gorby; his mother, Barbara Carrico; and his brother, Mark Gorby and his wife Rusty Gorby, and their children, Jake Gorby (Nephew) and his spouse Abbi Gorby, Katie (Gorby) Manchaca (Niece) and her spouse Jaun Manchaca, and Justin Gorby (Nephew) and his spouse Natalie Gorby.
As it is written in Romans 10:15, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" Ken lived this verse through his unwavering dedication to spreading the message of Christ. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
The funeral service will be held on July 27, 2024, at 11 AM at Rodes United Methodist Church, 286 Avon Road, Afton, VA 22920. FCA Area Director George Morris will be officiating the celebration of life. Burial and a reception will follow.
