Kenneth Franklin Weaver

March 18, 1951 - March 18, 2026

Kenneth Franklin Weaver, age 75, of Bridgewater, Virginia, passed away on March 18, 2026-his 75th birthday-after a courageous and defiant ten-year battle with cancer. Kenny was a man of profound impact who filled many roles: he was a devoted husband, dad, son, brother, grand dad, great grand dad, and uncle.

Kenny was a Dad and Stepfather in every way that truly mattered. Upon marrying his beloved wife, Brenda R. Rutherford, in 1993, Kenny didn't just gain a spouse; he gained "bonus daughters" whom he loved and raised as his own. To his sons and his daughters alike, he was a mentor, a steady hand, and our rock. He chose the role of fatherhood with a full heart, proving that family isn't defined by blood, but by the man who shows up and stays.

Brenda was not only his wife but his best friend for life. Their bond was the cornerstone of his world, and even until his final moments, Kenny made it a point to express his deep and unwavering love for her.

A lifelong dairy farmer, Kenny's character was forged in the early mornings and hard work of the farm. Born on March 18, 1951, he spent his entire life dedicated to his trade, embodying the resilience and work ethic that defined his generation. A truly stoic man, he carried that same quiet strength into his health battle, fighting with incredible resolve from day one of his diagnosis. If only the cows could talk, they would surely share some stories of their own about the man who tended to them with such steady devotion.

Outside of the farm, Kenny's great passion was the game of baseball. He was a fixture on the local diamonds, coaching his sons, Jr., Brent, and Wes, through many seasons. He wasn't just a coach; he was a storyteller who used the game to teach life lessons, often punctuated by his signature dry humor.

Kenny knew everyone and never met a stranger; he was affectionately known to many as the "Mayor of Bridgewater" because of his deep roots and his ability to strike up a conversation with anyone he crossed paths with. He was a man of quiet integrity whose legacy is the family he so carefully tended.

Although he will be deeply missed, we find comfort in knowing that Kenny will rejoice as he reaches heaven to celebrate with his mother, father, and his son, whom they called "Jr."

Preceded in Death By: Kenny was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Katherine Weaver; his father, C.F. Weaver; and his son, Kenneth F. Weaver (Jr.).

Surviving Family: His memory will be cherished by his wife, Brenda Rutherford Weaver; his siblings, Steve Weaver (Ellen), Rick Weaver (Karen), and Sally Weaver (Scott); and his children, Brent Weaver (Jane), Wes Weaver, Sonja Pennington (Ray), and Shannon Atkins (Mark).

He was the world's best Pawpaw to his grandchildren, Sean Atkins (Kaitlyn), Brooke Atkins (Cobey), Lindsay Atkins, Akeila Clark, Julia McDonough (Ryan), and Lexi Pennington (Owen); and his great-grandchildren, Brantley and Slade Atkins, and Cordelia and Rhiannon McDonough. His memory will also be cherished by his many nieces and nephews, who held a special place in his heart.

A Farmer's Prayer

A farmer's hands are now at rest, He gave his life, he gave his best. The morning chores are finally done, He's found his peace in the setting sun.
