Karl David Konopka
Karl David Konopka, 55, of Crimora, Virginia passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025.
He was born on December 4, 1969, and was the son of Joseph Konopka Jr.
Karl worked for the UVA Police Department, as a civilian, as monitor tech prior to his medical retirement after 16 years of service. Karl joined the US Army in 1988 and was a true patriot his entire life. He loved target shooting and riding his motorcycle and was an avid movie-goer, especially the Marvel movies. He watched Marvel End Game fight scene every day getting ready for work. Ironman was his favorite Marvel superhero. His loving and joyful spirit and his wonderful sense of humor made it impossible to have a bad day if you were with Karl. He lifted you up silently and lovingly with a special kindness that he showed to those around him. Karl made sure no one went hungry and would even send surprise deliveries of food if he thought you were hungry.
Karl is survived by a sister, Krystal Crawford; step-sisters, Brandy Cole and Heidi Jones; and was a loving and doting father to his three children, Steven Parker, Vincent Konopka and Claudia Konopka.
Karl was preceded in death by his grandparents, that he called Nana and Papa, who raised him, Joseph Konopka Sr. and Mary Konopka; and stepmother, Bonnie Konopka.
A service celebrating Karl's life will be held on December 4, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Bridgewater, with Jessica Crawford officiating. Burial will be at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in 2026.
