Karen A. Coffman
BROADWAY – Karen Ann Coffman, 72, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2025 in Sentara RMH Medical Center.
Karen was born in Harrisonburg on March 4, 1953, a daughter of the late Roy Edward and Iva Dare (May) Coffman. She attended Montevideo High School and was self-employed as a private-duty caregiver until her own health declined. Karen loved her cats. She enjoyed the company of “the Gray Bells” and fondly remembered “BooBoo” and “Midnight.” She also enjoyed singing and playing her guitar.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Louis Edward, Forrest Matthew, and Zeandell Mark Coffman. She is survived by six sisters, Priscilla Grant of Waynesboro, Matilda Good of Harrisonburg, Fern Chandler of Grottoes, Kathy Barker (Karen’s twin) of New Market, Marcella “Sally” Coffman of Grottoes, and Ramona Coffman of New Market; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, September 20 in the chapel of Bear Funeral Home, Churchville, officiated by Pastor Scott Budde. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jeff Smith, Robert Good, Neil Fitzgerald, Kevin Harold, Christopher Fink, Nick Thompson, Dustin Thompson, and Calvin Roth.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service on Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m.
