Joyce Annetta (Armstrong) Van Lear
Joyce Annetta (Armstrong) Van Lear, 90, widow of Glenn Allen Van Lear, of Staunton, Virginia passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024 at the Shenandoah Hospice House in Fishersville.
Mrs. Van Lear was born in Deerfield, Virginia on August 15, 1934, a daughter of the late John Hudson Armstrong and Thelma Belle (Morris) Armstrong.
Joyce was a devoted member of Linden Heights Baptist Church and took great joy in her role as a homemaker, where she found fulfillment in cooking, baking, and nurturing her family. She also had a passion for dancing.
In addition to her husband of 62 years, Mrs. Van Lear was preceded in death by seven brothers, Kern, Carlton, Mason, Stanley, Bruce, Donnie, and Kenneth Armstrong; and three sisters, Madeline Wills, Jean Halterman, and Brenda Reid.
Surviving, is a daughter, Leslie Van Lear of Staunton; a step-son, Mark Van Lear and his wife, Dina of Churchville; a brother, Curtis Armstrong and his wife, Sandy of PA; granddaughter, Lauren Huck and her husband, Andrew; grandson, Nicholas Roadcap; and four great-grandchildren, Lily Huck, Declan Huck, Gunner Roadcap and Athena Roadcap.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 25, 2024 in Augusta Memorial Park by Pastor Jeff Cale.
