John Wesley Hudkins
John Wesley Hudkins, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025, at the age of 85.
Born on October 18, 1939, John lived a simple life devoted to his family. He was married to his beloved wife, Janie, for 52 years until her passing in 2015. He was a proud and loving father to Michele and Robin (John), and a cherished grandfather to Chip (Bekah), Winn, Natalie, Scarlett, and Howie. He was also a devoted brother, brother-in-law and uncle. An incredibly unique character!
John found joy and purpose in his faith. A longtime member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, he loved singing in the church choir and began every Sunday morning by reading his Bible in his recliner before heading to services.
He was a devoted Buffalo Gap High School football supporter, running the game clock and assisting with coaching during the 1980s and 1990s. Even in later years, he rarely missed a game—and when he couldn’t attend, he always made sure to get the score.
He loved taking long drives and trying different routes to places.
John will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and all whose lives he graced.
A private service will be held to honor his memory.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
