John "Jack" Henry Cupp

John Henry "Jack" Cupp, 94, of Grottoes, Virginia passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at his home.

He was born on August 9, 1931, and was a son of Golden E. and Ruby (Cupp) Cupp.

Jack retired from Reynolds in 1992 and proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was an avid supporter of local sports and could always be found watching any ballgame airing from Thursday onward. Jack also enjoyed spending his time fishing, gardening, and farming.

Jack was united in marriage on February 4, 1954, to Hilda Mae (Thompson) Cupp, who preceded him in death on August 18, 2013.

Jack is survived by two daughters, Penny Sue Cupp Hawes and husband, Timothy, of Weyers Cave, and Amy Dawn Cupp Taylor and husband, Lance, of Carlisle, PA; two sons, David Wayne Cupp and wife, Sallie, of Winchester, and Michael Kevin Cupp and wife, Rosette, of Grottoes; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Carmen "Boots" Good of Grottoes; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his spouse and parents, Jack is preceded in death by siblings, Lois Coffman, Gayle Cupp, and Gary "Danny" Cupp.

The family will receive friends from 12 until 1 PM on Friday, Nov. 21, 2025, at Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Grottoes. A funeral service will follow at 1 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Guy Hudson officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Grottoes Rescue Squad, Grottoes Volunteer Fire Department, and/or the Harrisonburg/Rockingham SPCA.
