John David Wade
John David Wade, 68, loving husband of Kathy Armstrong Wade, of 77 Fort River Road, Verona, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, September 23, 2024, at his home with his family by his side.
John was born at home in Staunton, Virginia on January 1, 1956, a son of the late Raymond and Betty (McCauley) Wade.
John worked at Amp for many years before retiring from Alcoa as a fork truck driver. He was a hard-working man who had knowledge of many things. There was not much that he could not fix or do. He was an amazing provider and dedicated leader of his family.
John attended Aisle 7 Fellowship in Verona as often as his health allowed. His faith ran deep, and he had a close personal relationship with Jesus. He made it his last mission to make sure that his family, especially his grand and great-grandchildren knew the Lord. Be it singing "Jesus Loves Me", or reciting his favorite verses, he took comfort in spreading the good word. His favorite scripture comes from Hebrews 13:5-6 "I will never leave you nor forsake you" which he kept this close to his heart. When he told you he loved you he would let you know that Jesus loved you also.
As an avid musician, John found joy in music. You could find him on his back porch with a guitar in his hand or join him by the river for a fire and listen to him play and sing. He defined himself as a simple man who loved the mountains, God and his family. He cherished his role as a grandfather and was the best Paw Paw to all his grandchildren and his great-granddaughter; "His little loves" as he referred to them. He was simply the strongest and most amazing man. He fought cancer for 12 long years and never let the devil win, in the end John won, and joined the Lords army.
Surviving, in addition to his wife and life partner of 43 beautiful years are three children. Two Daughters, Shelly Wade of Staunton, and her children Jayvien and Jaziah; Kristina Wade of Verona, and her children, Trinity (Kenny) and Ah'Lee. A son, Nathan Wade of Verona, and his children Maleah, Gunner and Nayland. One great-granddaughter, Kylani. Two brothers, Raymond Wade Jr. and Stevie Wade. Three sisters, Pat Sparrow, Susan Ross, and Carolyn Mawyer (David). His mother-in-law, Anita Haessly. Two sisters-in-law, Mary Driver (David) and Linda Armstrong. Followed by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews that were also very special to him. His best friend since childhood that never left his side, Roger Whisman.
Following his wishes, a family gathering will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at their residence.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
