Joe Clarence Heizer

April 12, 1938 - February 23, 2024

Joe Clarence Heizer, 85, husband of Shirley (Miller) Heizer, formerly of Wagon Shop Road in Middlebrook, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024 at Brookdale of Staunton with his wife by his side.
Mr. Heizer was born in Middlebrook, Virginia on April 12, 1938, a son of the late Floyd D. Heizer and Estelle (Glover) Heizer. 
Joe was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church. Following his retirement from Summit Dairy, Inc. as a dairy farmer, Mr. Heizer did excavating for H.C. Eavers, Inc. In his spare time, Mr. Heizer enjoyed traveling in his motor home. He was an avid hunter, and enjoyed square dancing for 45 years. 
In addition to his parents, Mr. Heizer was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert G., James F., W. Lynn, and Samuel L. Heizer.
Surviving in addition to his wife of sixty-four years are two daughters, Sharon H. Phillips and her husband, Kevin of Waynesboro and Pamela H. Katt and her husband, Peter of Fincastle; six grandchildren, Byron Phillips (Codie), Kylene Smithkin (Brandon), Cassandra Hipps (Todd), Jedidiah Katt, Joseph Katt (Clara), and Kirsten Katt (Jay); and eight great-grandchildren, Chloe Phillips, Savannah Phillips, Logan Smithkin, Dylan Smithkin, Mackenzie Smithkin, Gibson Hipps, Madelyn Martin, and Edie Katt.  
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence of his daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Kevin, at 879 Madrid Road, Waynesboro, VA 22980.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 in Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery by Pastors Derek Almarode and Carolyn Lewis. 
Active pallbearers will be Byron Phillips, Jedidiah Katt, Joseph Katt, Brandon Smithkin, Todd Hipps, Don Perry, Jeff Heizer, and Ralph French.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Presbyterian Church, 563 Bethel Green Road, Staunton, VA 24401.
