Joan Anna Baxter-Ramaika

July 5, 1933 - December 17, 2025

Joan Anna Ramaika (nee Patten) passed on to her greatest reward on December 17, 2025, at the age of 92.
Born on July 5, 1933, in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, Joan was a graduate of Haverford High School and West Chester University. She was a longtime resident of West Chester, PA, Naples, FL, and most recently Staunton, VA.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Frank P. Patten and Anna C. Patten; her beloved husband, Lawrence Ramaika; her sister, Norma P. Dean; and her great-grandson, Roman J. Boyer.
She is survived by her loving children: Stephen P. Baxter (Paula), William J. Baxter (Susanna), and Timothy D. Baxter; as well as her nephew, Eric S. Dean (Gena). Known affectionately as Grammie Joan, she was deeply cherished by her nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Their time together was wholly cherished.
Joan had a diverse and fulfilling life, serving as a homemaker, administrative assistant / executive secretary, and small business owner. She generously gave her time to many organizations, including the Christian Science Reading Room in West Chester and the Brandywine River Museum. She enjoyed vacationing in new places, was an avid tennis player for most of her life, listened to varied music and took great pleasure in entertaining visitors.
Joan found great joy in experiencing life’s blessings and sharing them with the many lifelong friends she made along the way. Her Christian faith was a constant source of strength and comfort, and she was a proud and devoted member of the Church of Christ, Scientist, in West Chester, Pennsylvania.
Joan will be remembered for her warmth, steadfast faith, and the love she so generously shared with all who knew her. She will be dearly missed.
