Jo Ann McChesney

Jo Ann McChesney, 67, of Strasburg, VA, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Jo Ann was born in Woodstock, VA on May 21, 1957, a daughter of the late Carmen Lutzen and Mary Katherine Neff Shell.  She spent many years working at Cook’s Exxon in Woodstock as a cashier and cook and on September 21, 2024, she became a member of the Toms Brook Fire Department.  In her free time, Jo Ann enjoyed playing bingo, coloring, fishing, gardening (especially tomatoes), and spending time with her dog. She loved traveling with her son and grandchildren and looked forward to going to the harness races with her aunt Bonnie Kline and late uncle Mickie Kline.  Jo Ann was known for her friendly nature and the way she treated everyone like family, and will be remembered for being dependable, down-to-earth, and always showing up for the people she cared about.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband Randy McChesney, a sister Helen Shell, along with her fiancé Wayne Willis. 

Jo Ann was a dedicated mother and grandmother and leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Terry King Jr.; her grandchildren Courtney King, Kayson King, and Camden King; her siblings Alan Kibler and Roberta Kibler along with many other extended family and friends. 

Services and burial for Mrs. McChesney will be conducted privately.
